I love reading studies like this (see link at bottom). These studies help to determine what causes humans to live the longest and the findings are never surprising and are mostly common sense. Although this is from 2001, it’s part of my research I have been doing recently on the Blue Zones diets. This study compares the California Adventists with others in California. Results are not surprising. Most important factors for long life are not smoking and BMI. In order of importance, factors are – not smoking->BMI->eating nuts->exercise->being vegetarian. These are pretty much inline with all other research and what makes the most sense about the human diet. Don’t smoke, exercise, eat healthy. Here is a link to the study:
